Acceptable use policy

The rules of the road for brands, creators, and everyone using the Vicomma marketplace. Play fair, be honest, and respect the community.

Effective date: January 1, 2024
Last updated: June 15, 2026

In plain language: Vicomma is a marketplace built on trust. Be honest about who you are and what you offer. Deliver what you promise. Pay for what you receive. Don't try to cheat the system. Treat other users with respect. If everyone follows these rules, the marketplace works for everyone.

1. Introduction

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") applies to all users of vicomma.com (the "Platform"), including Brands, Creators, and visitors. This AUP supplements our Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy. By using the Platform, you agree to comply with this AUP.

Vicomma reserves the right to investigate potential violations, take enforcement action, and modify this AUP at any time. Our determination of whether a violation has occurred is final. In the event of a conflict between this AUP and our Terms & Conditions, this AUP takes precedence to the extent necessary to resolve the conflict.

2. General prohibited activities

The following activities are prohibited for all users of the Platform:

Fraud and deception

Creating fake accounts, providing false identity information, posting misleading profile details, fabricating credentials, or misrepresenting your skills, experience, portfolio, or location. This includes using stock photos or AI-generated images as your own portfolio work.

Harassment and abuse

Harassing, bullying, threatening, intimidating, or defaming other users through the messaging system, reviews, or any other platform feature. This includes persistent unwanted contact after a user has asked you to stop.

Hateful content

Promoting or condoning hate, violence, or discrimination against individuals or groups based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age, or any other protected characteristic.

Illegal activity

Using the Platform to facilitate, promote, or engage in any activity that violates applicable local, national, or international laws in the jurisdictions where you operate.

Intellectual property infringement

Uploading, posting, or delivering content that infringes on the copyrights, trademarks, or other intellectual property rights of third parties. This includes using copyrighted music, images, or video clips without proper authorization.

Child exploitation

Posting, uploading, or distributing any content that exploits, abuses, or endangers children in any way. Violations are reported to the relevant authorities immediately.

Transmitting malware, viruses, or harmful code. Attempting to hack, scrape, reverse-engineer, or disrupt the Platform's infrastructure or other users' accounts. Conducting phishing attacks or social engineering through Platform communications.

Spam and solicitation

Self-harm and dangerous content

Posting or distributing content that promotes, encourages, or glorifies self-harm, suicide, eating disorders, or dangerous activities.

Terrorism and extremism

Using the Platform to promote, support, fund, or recruit for terrorist organizations or extremist groups.

3. Creator-specific rules

In addition to the general rules above, Creators must follow these marketplace-specific rules:

Creators must NOT:

  • List services they cannot actually deliver or don't have the skills to perform
  • Use fake, stolen, or AI-generated portfolio samples as their own work
  • Accept orders and then fail to deliver without communicating with the Brand
  • Deliver content that materially differs from what was described in their Gig listing
  • Create multiple accounts to manipulate search rankings or circumvent suspensions
  • Solicit Brands to pay outside the Platform to avoid escrow
  • Inflate their follower counts, engagement metrics, or ratings through artificial means
  • Copy or plagiarize other Creators' Gig descriptions, portfolios, or profiles
  • Use bots, fake accounts, or paid services to generate fake reviews

Creators SHOULD:

  • Accurately describe their services, deliverables, and timelines
  • Respond to Brand messages promptly and professionally
  • Deliver content within the agreed timeframe
  • Accommodate reasonable revision requests within scope
  • Use only original work or properly licensed assets in deliverables
  • Keep all order-related communication within the Platform
  • Update their profile and Gig listings if their services or availability change

4. Brand-specific rules

In addition to the general rules, Brands must follow these marketplace-specific rules:

Brands must NOT:

  • Post campaign briefs or orders with misleading requirements, budgets, or expectations
  • Request work beyond the scope of the original order without additional compensation
  • Refuse to approve completed work unreasonably to delay or avoid payment
  • Use delivered content without approving the order to circumvent payment release
  • Demand personal contact information from Creators to arrange off-platform deals
  • Leave dishonest, retaliatory, or manipulative reviews
  • Request Creators to produce illegal, harmful, or rights-infringing content
  • Use the Platform solely to collect Creator contact information for off-platform recruitment

Brands SHOULD:

  • Provide clear, detailed briefs with specific requirements and expectations
  • Respond to Creator messages and deliveries in a timely manner
  • Approve or request revisions promptly after content is delivered
  • Clarify usage rights expectations before placing an order
  • Leave honest, constructive reviews after completed orders
  • Keep all order-related communication and payments within the Platform

5. Marketplace & payment rules

The escrow system is the foundation of trust on Vicomma. The following payment-related activities are strictly prohibited:

Off-platform payments are prohibited. All payments for services arranged through Vicomma must be processed through the Platform's escrow system. Arranging, suggesting, or completing payments outside the Platform (via PayPal, bank transfer, cryptocurrency, cash, or any other method) removes escrow protection for both parties and may result in permanent account termination.

6. Content standards

All content uploaded to Vicomma — including profile photos, portfolio images, Gig descriptions, delivered content, campaign briefs, and messages — must comply with the following standards:

Prohibited content

Portfolio and profile accuracy

All portfolio samples, profile descriptions, and Gig listings must accurately represent the Creator's own work and capabilities. Using others' work, stock images, or AI-generated content as your own portfolio is considered fraud and will result in account suspension.

7. Communication standards

All communication through Vicomma's messaging system must be:

Vicomma's messaging system creates a record of all agreements and communications. This record is used in dispute resolution. Moving conversations off-platform removes this protection and is discouraged.

8. Consequences of violations

Violations of this AUP may result in one or more of the following actions, depending on the severity and frequency of the violation:

Warning

First-time or minor violations may result in a written warning with an explanation of the issue and required corrective action.

Content removal

Violating content (Gig listings, portfolio items, messages, reviews) may be removed without prior notice.

Account suspension

Serious or repeated violations may result in temporary suspension of your account and visibility in the marketplace.

Permanent ban

Severe violations (fraud, child exploitation, illegal activity, repeated offenses) result in permanent account termination.

Vicomma reserves the right to take action at any time, without prior notice, if we believe the safety of the community or the integrity of the marketplace is at risk. Pending escrow funds during account actions are handled according to the dispute resolution process outlined in our Terms & Conditions.
